Hello Friends,

It’s the end of week two of the campaign. We’re inches away from busting through the next two Stretch Goals! When we reach 38,336 backers, we will surpass the original Kickstarter’s total number of backers! We’ll be adding something special to the Big Boi box and above when that happens. At $5MM we’ll be adding Blank Cards to the Big Boi box and above. With these cards you’ll be able to add your own twisted visions to the game. Make your own Warp Zone or add a person who really annoys you to the monster deck. There are unlimited possibilities with these cards. Spread the word so that we can hit both of these Stretch Goals this Week!

Let’s Recap Week Two!

We made a huge announcement about Localization of the Binding of Isaac: Four Souls! The Base Game, Requiem Expansion, and “Full Collection” being translated into Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano alongside the English version of the game. We’re excited to bring the world of Isaac to even more fans! You can read more about it in Update #11.

We introduced Lilith and her companion Incubus as plushes (Update #10) and the first renders of the Baby Plum Plush (Update #13).

Social Challenges have gotten crazier. You’ve painted yourself blue and ghost hunted. You’ve told us why you’re going to hell and designed your own Four Souls cards. You’ve dressed up as Mom and drew horrible pictures of her while recording her reaction. It’s been an interesting week to say the least... A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who’s participating. We’ve branched outside of Indie Games this week with three new Warp Zones.

Up first we have Newgrounds.com with its iconic Newgrounds Tank. Joining the tank are Pink Knight & Lollypop from Castle Crashers and Boyfriend & Girlfriend from Friday Night Funkin. You can check out more about these characters on Newgrounds.com.

Our first warp into the movies comes in the form of Psycho Goreman from director Steven Kostanski. A quick search will let you know where you can watch the movie in your region! Psycho Goreman himself, his eternal item Hunky Boys, and Death Trapper have joined us.

Finally, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac by creator Jhonen Vasquez warps in to cause trouble. Blind Johnny and his eternal item Johnny’s Knives are ready to hack their way through some monsters… and a few players. Follow Jhonen on Twitter HERE for more of his incredible work.

We’ve shown off new Alt Art cards from some incredible artists. Will you add them to your game? Replace the cards already in the game? Or will you frame these beauties?

Revealed Requiem Cards

Hello Friends,

Quick update today to show off the revealed cards that will be included in The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls Requiem.

Requiem adds new playable characters like Bethany & The Miser and their eternal items. The game will also feature Tainted Characters to add plenty of replayability.

How about Charmed Monsters? These charming cards force players to help others. I think that’s more evil than anything else we’ve done! You can read more about them in Update #8.

Cursed monsters are making their dastardly return to Requiem. We highly recommend killing them ASAP unless you want to feel their devastating effects.

New Souls arrive as well. Spice up your game with these bonus soul cards.

We talked about the brand new Room Deck in Update #6. This advanced play deck will really spice up the game when you choose to use it.

Add-ons

The add-on section is near the bottom of the page. You can add money for the add-ons in Kickstarter as “bonus money.” By doing it in Kickstarter, you help propel the Kickstarter closer to the Stretch Goals, which helps everyone! The add-ons will also be available in the BackerKit pledge manager which launches after the Kickstarter campaign ends.

Communication

We have received over 1000 DMs, we're slowly getting to all of those. The best way to get quick answers and to benefit all backers is to post in the Comments section as opposed to DM. This is also where you should post your love for Edmund and his games to ensure that he sees it!

We’re nearing the end of week 2 and the excitement hasn’t dwindled. The Tweets, Instagram sharing, comments on the Kickstarter page and updates continue to astound us. You all are such an active and engaged community and we just wanted to say thank you for helping make this Kickstarter so incredible! We’re a small team and when backers like Angrybandicoot, Glutzahn, Oriuelo, and countless others step up to fill the community in and help give kick ass answers to backer questions, it helps us to deliver a world class experience to the fans.

Today, we just want to give a huge round of applause to the silent heroes of the campaign. If you’ve left a comment, answered a comment or participated in a Twitter/Instagram Social Challenge – we’re talking to you.

You have completed ⅗ of The Corpse and are rapidly marching toward the next EPIC Warp Zone. By completing the Gehenna Social Challenge the other day, you unlocked Johnny the Homicidal Maniac by creator Jhonen Vasquez. Jhonen also contributed an Alt Art card if you remember from Update #12. He also did the art on these Warp Zone cards:

The New Plush! Another Warp Zone and Alt Art Cards

Hello again Friends,

Back in May when we were spoiling cards for the upcoming Kickstarter, we showed off the Baby Plum Monster Card. And Twitter EXPLODED.

Well, you asked for it…. A LOT…. and we heard you. Without further ado, we bring to you: Baby Plum the Plush. 

Yes, it’s a render. The prototype is coming, but we were so excited we had to share. He’s joining Lilith & Incubus, Blue Baby & Poo, Monstro, and Azazel. We’re excited to add Baby Plum to the stable because of your suggestions. Oh, and backers of the Everything But The Sketch Tier get it for FREE! We’re building the best Kickstarter together, let’s keep it going!

Campaign News

On the unlocks side, we have a new Warp Zone to show everyone! This one comes from last years twisted horror comedy Psycho Goreman from director Steven Kostanski. We’re thrilled to warp into our first movie!

We’re also thrilled to show off some Alt Art cards from Cyanide and Happiness’ @_KrisWilson_. His Mega Satan card is just kickass. Tom Bunk, of Mad Magazine and Garbage Pail Kid fame brings us his twisted vision of Fistula. @OvumArt shows off a very 3d claymation version of Secret Room. And @the_ptoing gives us a pixelated Gurdy like you’ve never seen before.

First Time Backers | More Alt Art Cards | Warp Zone

Hello Friends,

There are over 20,000 backers who are new to an Edmund McMillen Kickstarter and just under half of that number are brand new to Kickstarter. Welcome, and thank you for trusting us to be your first! This update is to help explain the Kickstarter and Backerkit process. If you just want to see some cool unlocks from the last few days, scroll down to the Campaign Updates Section.

Kickstarter

Kickstarter is a marketplace where people can pledge to help make a project a reality. For our game you’re helping raise money so we can get the games printed and merchandise made. During the 31 days of the Kickstarter, the more backers and pledges we get, the more we can add into the game. This is known as a STRETCH GOAL. Stretch goals for Four Souls include Alt Art Cards (cards reimagined by visiting artists) which get added every 1000 backers, Warp Zone Cards (cards from other popular video games) which get added when social challenges are completed, and financial/backer goals when specific milestones are hit. To be clear, the game does not yet exist, your pledge helps us make the game a reality!

Once the Kickstarter ends, your pledge will be collected.

Backerkit

A few weeks after the Kickstarter ends, an email will be sent out from Backerkit. This is an important email to be looking out for! Backerkit is a “pledge manager” and is where you can purchase add-ons. If you added bonus support during the campaign, this extra money will show up in the Backerkit and acts as a credit when selecting add-ons. This is also where you’ll enter your address and pay for shipping fees and Taxes/VAT as required by your state or country. The Backerkit will remain open for several months until the games get close to fulfillment. You will be able to make changes to your address until we lock the Backerkit. Our shipping estimate for backers to receive their items is June 2022.

We held off on unlocks yesterday to focus on the translation news. But we’re back with a vengeance today!

You’ve unlocked even more Alt Art Cards! These are redesigned cards from different artists. One is added to the game for every 1000 backers! These Alt Art Cards are in addition to the cards that are included in the game.

On the Social Goal Side, you’ve now crushed both the Ashpit & Gehenna Social Challenges, completing SEVEN challenges now in ten days.
