Week 3 Recap!
– Wed, Jun 23, 2021 at 02:00:08 AM
Hello Friends,
It’s hard to believe we’re already through three weeks of this campaign. There’s just over a week left to go and so many things left to unlock! We’ve talked a lot this week about how you can help to hit those final Stretch Goals by spreading the word to people and by adding bonus support for the add-ons you’ll be getting post campaign. There’s also the Social Goals happening over on Twitter and you all are still smashing through them. We also saw your feedback from the family heavy Home. Since it was Home, it made sense to focus on others in the family, but we understand that there can be some discomfort involving others in your shenanigans. Thank you to the parents who were game to play, and thank you to those who chose not to participate out of respect for their privacy. The Closet brings the focus back to your own ridiculous antics and lowered the reliance on parents so that only 0.02% had to participate.
We also want to be clear when asking backers to go to BoardGameGeek.com to interact with our games on the site. On Requiem’s PAGE we’re asking you to click the Heart to become a Fan, subscribe to the page for updates, add images or videos, or post in the forums. On the Base Game’s PAGE we’re asking for interactions and ratings since this is a game you’ve played and your honest feedback helps others decide if it’s a game they’d like to play.
Let’s Recap Week Three!
Retailers! We love you, we’re here to support you in every way possible. We’ll be reaching out post-Kickstarter to see what else we can do for your brick and mortar stores. If you have questions about the Retail Tiers, you can find it in Update #19. However, we’ll re-answer the question that comes up often:
Q: Can I buy these games if I don't have a retail store?
A: The retailer tier is intended for retailers but it’s also a great way to get 5 of your friends the game you love and save costs and shipping.
You asked for larger pictures of the shirts and we gave you them in Update #20.
Solitaire Mode is one of the big updates to game mechanics coming with Requiem. By selecting two characters and using them both to collect Four Souls before the timer runs out, you can now enjoy the game even when your friends can’t play. You can read more about the setup and execution so you can playtest for yourself over on Update #21.
Earlier today we dropped the Mega Satan Tier, and it was gobbled up immediately! This amazing resin statue will look great on your shelf or replacing the head of your garden gnome.
The Warp Zones and Alt Cards continue to impress. This week you’ve unlocked even more Warp Zones and Alt Cards, and you're right on the cusp of unlocking another Warp Zone! We're showing off the full list below. These bonus cards have been the focus of our campaign goals. So far we've added 30% more cards to the game than when we started because of our amazing community!
First a quick correction on the link to Slay the Spire from Update #17, the correct link is RIGHT HERE.
Developer Extremely OK Games, Ltd brings us The Strawberry from Celeste as a Bonus Soul for accomplishing the worst possible odds! They also bring us the Blue Archer and their Eternal Item Bow & Arrow from the game Towerfall!
In the next Warp Zone we have Cave Story by developers Studio Pixel and good friends Nicalis, Inc. Balrog and Ballos join the Monster Deck with some unique abilities. Quote also joins the Characters with a unique Eternal Item that flips to give either evasion or attack power. That brings our Warp Zone card total up to 49!
In Addition to those fantastic cards, we also have some beautiful Alt Art Cards that get unlocked every 1,000 backers. Make sure to check out the artists on Twitter!
What was your favorite reveal from last week? Let us know in the comments.
Let’s Go! Week 4 starts NOW!

Hello Friends,
You crazy people, you’ve done it, you’ve really done it! THANK YOU!
We’ve surpassed the previous Kickstarter’s backer number! With your help and passion not only have we passed our previous backer number, but we’ve completed more Social Challenges and unlocked WAY more cards than Binding of Isaac: Four Souls and Tapeworm combined. This is no small feat and allows us to keep creating better content for you!
Now here is a close up of the bonus tattoos that you unlocked for the Big BOI Tier and above!
New Tiers!
Speaking of new and better content, we’re going to be releasing two new tiers this week. One drops tomorrow and the other drops on Friday. We’ll keep teasing Friday’s throughout the week, but tomorrow we have an extremely limited tier coming.
The new limited tier that drops tomorrow, Monday June 21st during Edmund's 1300 (1pm) PST Livestream, will be available to TEN Backers Only. Catch the Livestream HERE and make sure you have your phone or a second window ready so you can be on Kickstarter when it drops! Much like the Mystery Boxes, we think this tier will go within minutes, so make sure you’re on Kickstarter at 1300 PST so you don’t miss your opportunity.
We’re so close to the next Stretch Goal of $5,000,000. You can help the community achieve it quickly in two ways. If you’re getting add-ons, you can add that extra money as Bonus Support right now instead of waiting to pay for them in Backerkit. Here’s how:
On a Mobile Device
- Click “Manage”
- Click the three dots at the top right
- Click “Update Pledge”
- Add money under the Bonus Support.
On a desktop
- Click “Manage Your Pledge” at the top of the page
- Click on the blue button that says “change your pledge”
- Add money where it says Pledge Amount.
The other is to spread the word about Isaac! Tweet your friends, tell your coworkers, build a Requiem shrine in Minecraft. A great place to spread the word is on BoardGameGeek.com. By heading over to the PAGE and interacting, you help the game get noticed by more tabletop gamers. Click the Heart to become a Fan, subscribe to the page for updates, add images or videos, or post in the forums. You can do the same for the Base Game by clicking HERE, we’d love your rating and a review of the base game!
Monday is going to be epic, what do you think Friday will bring? Tell us in the comments.
Thank you,
The Requiem Team
Solitaire Mode
– Sun, Jun 20, 2021 at 01:40:23 AM
Hello Friends,
It’s time to talk about one of the new play mechanics being introduced with this Kickstarter.
SOLITAIRE MODE!
To set up the game, you randomly select two characters from the Who Am I Deck along with their starting items. You then draw two separate hands of three loot cards and 3¢, one for each of these characters. Do not mix the hands, but you can leave the loot cards face-up. Set up the Monster, Loot, and Treasure Decks as normal. Place two Treasure cards and two Monster cards face up beside their respective decks as normal. Set the D8 out in an easily seen area with the EIGHT side up.
You play as both of these characters, and play proceeds as normal, playing one character at a time. You play one character, then the second character in the same order the whole game. When both character turns are over the D8 ticks down one. If a character dies during their turn, the D8 also ticks down one. All other rules for character deaths, effects, responses, and play remain unchanged. The objective is to collect 4 souls between the two characters before the D8 reaches zero. You do, you win. You don't, you lose.
It’s a simple mechanic but incredibly difficult when implemented. You can playtest this mechanic right now if you own the First Edition of the game, but the rules will include tuned decks, which are currently being worked on. Each deck will include 100 cards in ratios of different types of cards. This will focus the game more and keep it balanced.
Requiem, the Second Edition of the Base Game, and the Full Collection will include cards that are marked for multiplayer only. This will remove dead cards like Butterbean from the game.
Try it out now!

If you’re not following Edmund on Twitter @EdmundMcMillen then you may not have seen the amazing artwork by @orisghost. This badass piece will be the print Edmund is signing (and drawing poop on) for the Sh*tty Signed Tier! If you missed that tier, you can still snag the print in the Everything but the Sketch! Tier.
Help us raise awareness of the Kickstarter Campaign and spread the word about Isaac! Tell your friends, tell your roommates, tell that lady who walks her cat on a leash that you’ve seen.
We’re excited to keep playtesting Solitaire Mode, we’re just over a 50% win rate right now. What are you waiting for, go try it out for yourself! How did your playtest go? What are you most excited about in Solitaire mode? Let us know in the comments below!

Retail Tiers
– Fri, Jun 18, 2021 at 01:46:02 AM
Hello Retailer Friends!
We’re excited to have you here. We’ve spent countless hours playing games, browsing comics, and picking out the latest miniatures. As the world slowly begins to open back up, we can’t wait to get back out into your Brick and Mortar stores and play some Binding of Isaac: Four Souls with people again!
Thank you for helping us spread the word of Isaac to more people by adding it to your storefront. In the Kickstarter campaign and also in Backerkit, you can pledge to purchase 6 copies of the Requiem expansion:
Base Game 2nd Edition:
or the Full Collection:
The Retail Requiem Expansion and Retail Super Tier will both include 6 sets of the tier’s associated Stretch Goals. That means the Requiem games will come with 6 sets of Warp Zone cards and stickers. The Retail Super Tier will come with 6 sets of Alt Art and Warp Zone cards and all the other Stretch Goal goodies from the Full Collection tier, like tear tokens!
We’ve compiled a list of questions we’re expecting from our retailers.
Q: Can I pledge for more than 6 copies of a retail tier?
A: Yes, you can pledge for more. Just add more money to your pledge
Q: Can I pledge for all three of these retail tiers in the Pledge Manager (BackerKit) after the campaign?
A: Yes, you can.
Q: Must the number of games I get as a retailer for each of these tiers be divisible by 6?
A: Yes, we are shipping cases of the games to you and we plan on having 6 per case. We won't be breaking up cases.
Q: Can I get a mix of languages in a single tier?
A: You can't mix languages in a tier. All 6 games must be in the same language.
Q: If I order two different retail tiers in the Pledge Manager (or two or more sets of the same retail tier), can I pick a different language for each?
A: If you choose more than one set of 6, you can pick a different language for each set of 6.
Q: Can I buy these games if I don't have a retail store?
A: The retailer tier is intended for retailers but it’s also a great way to get 5 of your friends the game you love and save costs and shipping.
Q: Can I host Binding of Isaac Nights or Tournaments?
A: Hell yes you can!
